This month I thought I’d give my market update for Iowa City a bit of a twist and create an infographic. Two things stood out for me while I was collecting the data on the Iowa City MLS. The first was the surprising fact that home sales were down in January – April in 2014 compared to January – April 2013. We all know the market is hopping and the only explanation for that can be that the low inventory of homes on the market in Iowa City is affecting home sales in Iowa City.
On the upside, the contract to listing ratio for homes in Iowa City is at 45%. What that means is that 45% of the homes listed on the MLS have accepted offers. That’s definitely a sign of a very active market!
Do you have a house to sell in Iowa City? I’m a straight talking Realtor who knows the ins and outs of the Iowa City real estate market and knows how to get your home sold. Even in this hot market homes don’t sell themselves – A good agent will be what makes the difference between a home selling quickly and it languishing on the market.
