Historical Homes in Goosetown, Iowa City
Goosetown is in the north of Iowa City. The name Goosetown goes back a bit to when Bohemian immigrants settled there in the 1850’s and kept geese in their yards. It’s about a mile from downtown Iowa City, making it a very popular choice among students and faculty relocating to Iowa City for the University of Iowa. Goosetown is on the east side of the Iowa River, which is where you will find the older period homes dating back to the 1800’s.
Homes in Iowa City in Mann Elementary Neighborhoods
Mann Elementary School is within walking distance of homes in the Goosetown Neighborhood. At the time of writing this post there is only one house in the Goosetown Neighborhood. Goosetown is considered prime location with sought after Historical Homes. Add to that the fact that Iowa City is a transient town with a consistently quick turnover of students and faculty at the UIOWA and you can see why there is a quick turnover of homes in the Mann Elementary neighborhoods.
What makes the Goosetown one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live in Iowa City are of course the Historic Homes, some on larger lots. The super location within walking distance to downtown Iowa City is also a big draw for home buyers. Another good thing Goosetown has got going for it is easy access to I-80. Living in the north of Iowa City you have better access to the Interstate than on the east side of Iowa City.
Iowa City has 41 parks so there are a few close by. The one that jumps out at me because of the happy name is Happy Hollow Park. The biggest parks close by are Hickory Hills Park and City Park.
