At the time of updating this post, the lowest priced home listed on the Iowa City MLS in the Shimek School District is $159,000. It’s the only house listed under $200,000 with the next home listed at $219,000. Lower priced homes are a rare commodity in neighborhoods close to Shimek Elementary. The highest priced home currently listed is marketed by the agent as one of Iowa City’s finest homes and priced at $1,425.00.

The Dean Oakes Neighborhood is a nice established neighborhood with homes in a variety of styles, not your “cookie cutter” neighborhood at all. As is the case with all neighborhoods in Iowa City, there’s a park close by. (Iowa City has 41 parks at the last count so regardless of where you live there will always be a park close by). In this case it’s Hickory Hill Park. Iowa City is very “Green.” And I’m not just talking about parks, the City also has a strong focus on taking care of the environment.
